Jay R. Lang created the Breakthrough!® Methodology after more than 20 years as an executive recruiter in New York. Since 2006, he has trained over 3,000 professionals, helping them return to the market and move into roles with greater responsibility and compensation.
He is the author of Breakthrough!®: How to Get Hired in Today's Tough Job Market, which outlines his system for navigating career transitions with clarity and intention.
His guidance has supported professionals stepping into roles at Apple, Amazon, Tesla, IBM, Goldman Sachs, and Ford Motor Company, including graduates of Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia.
Jay has partnered with the New York State Department of Labor One Stop and Orange County Training and Development to coach displaced professionals through strategic career moves. In 2017, he was named Hudson Valley Magazine’s Hero of the Month.
Having lived internationally, including Japan and Australia, he brings a global perspective to hiring psychology and how professionals can stand out in competitive markets.
Maura brings more than 20 years of experience in Operational Excellence, Lean Six Sigma, and Project Management, leading major transformation efforts across complex organizations. She has directed enterprise wide process redesigns and built workforce development programs grounded in precision, accountability, and disciplined performance habits.
Originally a Breakthrough!® client, Maura used the methodology to accelerate her own career before partnering with Jay to bring stronger operational discipline to how the system is executed. Her background allows her to quickly identify where professionals may be unintentionally limiting their positioning through messaging, confidence, or approach.

Danielle brings more than 30 years of experience in the service industry, with a foundation in healthcare and client centered environments that shaped her empathy and awareness of human behavior and decision making.
As a nurse, she understands the importance of supporting individuals through stress, vulnerability, and major life transitions. Through these experiences, she gained insight into how people think, respond under pressure, and make important decisions.
Originally a Breakthrough!® client, Danielle used the methodology during her own workforce realignment, giving her firsthand experience with the uncertainty and self doubt that often accompany career transitions. Combined with her clinical background, this perspective allows her to recognize where clients may be getting stuck and help them rebuild confidence while shaping a stronger, more market ready narrative.
